Swiss, 15-jewels (?), lever escapement, stem wind, pin set, bridge model, circa 1880 (?). Could be a karat gold case, but we would need to see the markings inside the case back. These can be hard/impossible to identify a maker because of the production methods. The R and A marking refers to regulating the time keeping. R means Retard (slower), and A means Advance (faster), and mean nothing in terms of an identity.

Torrid pace this week. No time for a change. Not complaining though. 😁

Hey, this is 2018......you can't say "retard". You have to say the watch is "time keeping challenged". Easy people, it's a joke.

That's sweet. Waltham made some superlative pocket watch movements, and that is one of the best. The only problem is that hair keeps distracting me. When I was at Clark AB in the 80s there was a guy named Eugene with hair like that, but it as nearly white. We called him Buffer. Now they'd probably call us bullies.

Seeing a lot of nice pocket watches here. Is there an area of this site for pocket watches? We need to encourage the younger set appreciate them. I've really developed a great respect and admiration for the makers.

I think I'd like to hold off judgement on a thing like that, sir, until all the facts are in.....

Thanks, sir. 👍

I was at Cubi and Subic in the late 80s and early 90s...we flew up towards Clark on a few occasions but never landed there. Mt. Pinatubo really did a number on Clark. 🙁

I don’t believe there is a dedicated pocket watch section at OF...I could be wrong, however.

I was part of 13th Air Force and did a stint at Camp O'Donnell from '84 to '87. We can compare scars someday. On New Year's 1985, a local rolled a live grenade into the street near the Brass Knob bar where a few of us were "socializing." That was as close to combat as I got. The communist insurgents/NPA were taking hold of Mindanao and pushing north when they could. It kept us from being bored.
