I'm sort of smitten with this watch; now I have a Speedmaster Pro transitional - it was the watch that got me into my fascination with mechanical timepieces - and it's the crown jewel of my very humble accumulation. But I don't really like big ass 40mm+ watches. This 38mm reduced though I find just about perfect on my wrist. You hardcore Speed freaks can sniff at it all you like but this, for me, is a great wearing, great looking watch...

Mine says hi. I’ve owned mine for just under 30 years. I had no idea what a Speedmaster reduced was when I bought it, pre-owned. Love it! Now let’s wait to be told they are a poor substitute for a Speedmaster Professional. I have one of those as well.

From last night actually....a plain vanilla hesalite Speedmaster, while at the Space Settlement Summit 2 in Santa Monica (as Omega's guest -- Thank You Rohan and Dagmar!).

The Space Settlement Summit is put on by the National Space Society and brings together thinkers and doers from government (NASA, mainly) academia, and private industry. It's essentiallty a two-day brainstorming session, focusing on the nitty gritty details necessary to get humans safely and efficiently settled, on the Moon and Mars. It's quite an impressive gathering.

One of the coolest parts of the evening was being able to inspect, up-close and personal, Dr. Peggy Whitson's Sokol (falcon) spacesuit worn during ascent and descent on Soyuz spacecraft. The suit is well-traveled, having been worn on Soyuz TMA-11 (on the way to ISS Expedition 16) and Soyuz MS-03 (to Expeditions 50/51). Dr. Whitson commanded ISS Expedition 51 and is NASA's most experienced Astronaut, having logged a total of 665 days in space.
