I have a real soft spot for the old Datejust 1600 and 16000 series especially. This one (1978 - 16014 / cal 3035) will be on my wrist today. Tough to catch how different the linen dial can look under different lights and angles. Can vary from almost no texture to a lot.
Of all people Mt wife wants me to buy this one....yes...my wife!!!! I can hear the cries of envy! Your wife's don't like watches....mine does...... ( I did buy her a vintage ring that she liked too but still(
Wearing this 1928 (tarnished) silver Longines cushion. I was at the big vintage phonograph and music box show today in Union, IL.
One of my first watches and one that gets a lot of positive, spontaneous comments from random people who see me wearing it. I wear it a lot and never have shown it here because I think the dial isn't authentic. My watchmaker, however, believes it to be an Omega dial. "It was made in the Quartz Crisis; they did all kind of crap."
Some pilots wait their entire career in anticipation of flying with a big ass railroad grade pocket watch.
