This is less about watches than it is about chickies.

Babysitting chicks today. Mrs. noelekal brought home three Ameraucanas and two Rhode Island Reds from Tractor Supply yesterday afternoon. Looking to possible replacements in the coming year as our original hens are getting on to be four years old.

Chickies are living in the entrance hall where we're remodeling. Handy huh? Only place were the A/C isn't blowing directly and where a measure of heat may be retained. Internet says day-old to week-old chicks need 95F. We're only managing 85F with these and they seem to be thriving. Any problems with this that you chicken people can see? We've not done the "raising-from-chicks" thing before. I'm heading out the door now to go to the feed store for proper feed. They've been eating crushed oatmeal since yesterday evening. May look for a red brooder light while I'm there. Nothing like getting your eggs for $5 each, amortized.
