My trusty Seiko Five and I are out here saving lives.... .... ... .. but there's a problem.... .... ... .. there's no one to save us.... ... .. From the... ... .. GIANT SQUID! My partner is definitely giving me weird looks for his one. Oh well no calamari for her
First official outing for my FOIS on the 1125/617 was a currency flight in the BT-13! A bit of a generational gap between the two... but Wally didn't complain.
There's a little sad Speedy here on Speedy Tuesday. Was seated in a chair at a firearms show over the weekend, absentmindedly tightening the watch's strap and the Speedmaster fell from about 30 inches and face-planted on a concrete floor. The floor was rough but the case was unscathed. The crystal was left with the imprint of the rough concrete though I didn't know it at that time. Without my reading glasses I didn't notice any resulting issues on Sunday. This morning I took a photo of the watch for Speedy Tuesday and first noticed it in the photograph. I thought it was dust on the surface. Closer inspection with a glass indicated it was pitted from contact with the floor. Before treatment The pitting on the crystal's surface was deep so I used the following to remove it. First the Mother's Mag Polish, the the CD scratch remover, and last the Mother's Plastic Polish for headlight lenses. I know that it'd probably be easier to get some Polywatch, however was on hand today. After treatment After the "treatment" the imperfection still showed up. I was just about to get out the valve grinding compound (not really). Further study of both the "after" photograph and the crystal, this time with a loop revealed that the pits that were in the crystal are gone but a portion of the hour hand lume has jarred loose and is resting in crumbles on the inside of the crystal. So, I'm letting the watch run down and will send it along for treatment. This is the last appearance of this Speedy until further notice. Will have to console myself with Constellation Tuesday or something similar until the Speedmaster is returned. One could do worse than classic Constellations on a Tuesday.
