Double dog Timex faux mil watches on original straps today...since I have mil watch envy...and have no mil watches. I purchased both watches new at the NAS North Island Navy Exchange in either the late 1980s or early 1990s while on active duty...AND they are both "flown" faux mil watches...good times! 馃憤

Husband was usaf and wasn't issued a watch, also mid 80s. But he assures me he had much better "chow" than the other services.
I would definitely concur regarding much better "chow"...we flew a x-country flight to Sheppard AFB and stayed there the weekend. Holy smokes...it was like staying at some high-end resort or something...and the food on base at the "chow hall" was...F A B U L O U S. 馃憤

Also, regarding the mil watch canteens: How is the large crown regarding fitment on the left wrist? Do you just hike it up the forearm a bit so the large crown doesn't impact the back of the hand...or do you just wear it on the right wrist?

Having spent some time on subs, as a civilian, I can tip my hat to the chow in the sub fleet too.

I was told once that the AF used this process whenever a new mission/base was being built: They would first build all the rec, chow and living quarters. After that they were usually over budget. They would go back to the DoD and request more money and claim they needed it because the airfield and support activities were not finished.

Unfortunately a very busy day on the streets did not give me an opportunity to take a #SeikoFivesSaveLives picture. However I arrived home to a package from Australia.

New NATOs arrived today courtesy of the very generous @CanberraOmega. Switched to this for the remainder of the evening.
