Yesterday's photos.
Went out to the old family place. Ostensibly to take some materials out there and to pick prickly pear tunas so Mrs. noelekal can make a batch of jelly and syrup. Really it was an excuse to hike, see the lake level, scout for deer, check boundary fences, and goof off.
90F in the shade, on the thermometer on the wall of the old cabin. Such afternoons are common this time of year in this part of Texas.
Goofing off was done and cactus was picked over, at least until a rattlesnake appeared in clump at about sunset. Then it was time to pack it in for the day.
Usual hiking companions while out on the remote place.
Now you see them.
Now you don't.
Soon after the above two photos were taken the snake turned up. As it was getting a bit murky looking down in the prickly pear clumps, picking was over.
