You may know already that I love blue watches. This is an Aquastar Benthos 500 in the rarer blue configuration, ref. 1002.

The movement is an A. Schild cal. AS1902 enhanced by a fly-back minutes counter. The orange minutes hand is started and reset by the pusher at 4 and stops after one revolution.

Enjoy,

Bravo! It is a marvel. Forgive me, I am not familiar with that maker, but is the 500 referencing the depth rating? i.e. 500m.

The watch feeds my appetite for distressed and well worn textures for sure. It is an Ollech & Wajs Selectron.
Like that collection of 'distressed' textures; casual yet strong. Very nice...

What's the watch?

Your term marvel is a well deserved designation for this underrated yet sought-after watch. It implements quite a few ingenious developments made by Aquastar.

Yes, in 1962 the Benthos 500 was the first watch rated to 500 m depth. Today Aquastar claims that these watches generally were tested for the pressure of 1000 m.

The case is rather chunky, though:

First black dial in my collection and a brand new toy. I just had to try it out!

1940s Universal Geneve, Compur ref 42404.

EDIT : A black dial seems proper for Friday the 13th!
