Bought this a couple of months ago, took maybe 6 weeks to get Viet Nam Post to hand it off to the USPS. The seller was great; for such a pitiful little sale he worked hard to get it to me. Sent it off to rehab and now I've finally got it on my wrist. After wearing a Speedmaster all day this piece is practically weightless.

I'm not sure exactly how old it is. I guess just post WW2 maybe early 1950s. 33mm stainless case - big for this style watch in that time.
Cool!
Any "under the hood" pictures to share?

Not a high-end-watch but nice to see. This is maybe the predecessor of a Swatch...

This watch finish and conclude my Asian watch week. I know some here scorns quartz but I put it down to not knowing the significance of mesauring time as exactly as possible. Think navigation and the longitude problem. This is the natural scientific development of trying to do the best you can - and selling it to the public.

This was Seiko: s most accurate and most expensive watch (in steel) in 1977. Top of the line. With an accuracy - within 10 seconds A YEAR. It cost 200 000 yen which was really serious money.

A really nice, worked and structured dial in a high quality case with nice beveling. Notice how the indexes and the hands are matched in shape and form. The bracelet is not original to the watch but it is an original Seiko and it fits perfectly.

The high end quartz watches of that era cannot and should not be compared with what came afterwards. This watch is comparable with the Omega Marine Chronometer (which actually was less accurate). They both are from an era when quartz was top of the line - when superior accuracy was the selling point.

That dial and those indexes... Exceptional! That looks great and thank you for sharing the background behind it.

It's going to be a multi-watch day. Time to thin & adjust the herd in the Darlinboy watch world, so if you had a Dibs or just a Jones for something you've seen, drop me a pm. This Heuer Bund, btw is definitely NOT going on the block.
