Today I wore this:

While delivering this to its new owner:

Can't say I was glad to see it go, but a (hopefully!) soon incoming Constellation with a somewhat similar look necessitated a sale. The new owner is completely new to the hobby, got a pretty good deal and will get it serviced soon. It looked spectacular on him and I'm sure he'll find pleasure in it for years 馃榾

I did not think the old lume was bad, but it really does look nicer now! Enjoy! 馃榾

Coincidentally, I am wearing one of its cousins today:

Very nice. This Tradition is actually a different watch as I had the chance to buy 2. This is the one I kept

I usually try to wear this on a Wednesday, but today it was a Wakmann Thursday. d1007ef999477309f4eb5fec4a32dc02.jpg

I had an early medical appointment today and decided to extend my leave from the office with a little...a...er...respiratory therapy in the Santa Monica Mountains before returning to work. This Spring is the first in several years to feature abundant blooms of wildflowers due to the extended drought. Our precipitation so far this year has just been average but we'll take average with gratitude. The flowers in the background are called Isomeris, also known by the rather un-romantic common name Bladderpod.

Full disclosure: I removed a blob of dog slobber from the watch crystal with Photoshop.

Here's a 1967 Bulova Commander. 33.4mm case with some rather funky sized 17.3mm lugs. I only mention the lugs because of the strap.

When I received this watch my first impulse, like always, was to get rid of the old strap. Most of straps that come on fleaBay watches are cheap, ugly or nasty in some combination. I pulled out the springbar tool and prepared to remove the strap when I gave it a closer look. Real lizard. Hmmm. Kind of a nice buckle, too. Whoa! This strap was, if not original to the watch, certainly a real period piece and like the watch showed no real wear. The photo below shows a little discoloration that I may try to remove but I really, really like the crosshatch texture. The taper of the strap is different than contemporary straps - a little sharper going from 17.3mm to just over 12mm.

After a service the watch is a great timepiece. I just love the strong styling of the dial; it's what I love about mid to late '60's watches.

This evening, while the GF is out, I'm doing the horological equivelant of wearing the wife's underwear around house... 馃槻

Liking the feeling so far... 馃槵
My concern is that while the GF is out, he is wearing his WIFE's undies. So cheating as well?
