Holy crap, you're right! I've gotta stop drunk-'Baying. I expect you're going to offer to take it off my hands at a steep discount due to its mangled state...
I'm still waiting to see some more of your connies! I particularly like you 'restoration' project arrowhead 2852...beautiful.
Late afternoon switch to this pink tropical bubbleback -- need to dress up to go to the Chicago Symphony tonight!
Another unique Oyster, ref. 1573, ca. 1938. Some provenance too. This is a small watch (29mm), similar to the Viceroy in shape and size, but with a unique thinner, 3-part case and fixed wire lugs. http://aad.archives.gov/aad/record-...l&tf=F&q=42067113&bc=&rpp=10&pg=1&rid=8280898 The watch actually predates his enlistment (at the age of 34) by about 6 years. According to James Dowling, the absence of "SWISS MADE" on the dial indicates that it was likely purchased in Switzerland. I suspect the original owner was of some means and had the case back engraved to personalize it, for obvious reasons, but it seems to have been treated pretty gently! Perhaps he never saw overseas service.
