Plan to go mt biking later today. Just fixed a flat tire with my good friend, Ed White. Been hanging out with him on Tuesday's.
New strap on 1949 Elgin Hunter. Folks at my local jewelry store enjoy oohing and aahing vintage watches. Found out one lady's dad was a watchmaker one of the men complained their watchmaker had moved to Memphis.
Great, so you just hit the transition. My Airman with the same dial was erroneously described as having the Felsa movement, but I found the A. Schild cal. AS1701, which was modified for zero-stop, too. Mick
Love all those valuable vintage Speedies, but in a major blizzard like today's, this one's for me -- never been serviced, regulated, adjusted or repaired in 14 years. Only the strap has been replaced.
Hey MadDog-how goes the flying with all this Snow-mageddon out there? I see you are flying out of "Minn"-are the schedules all FUBAR?
We've been flying over it and around it...luckily none of our departures or destinations have been affected (so far) regarding the four day rotation we're flying. Also, I'm based out of Cincinnati, OH...Delta's smallest pilot base.
Guess you're due... at least, if you want another 14+years out of 'er... ... and that one is definitely worth it!
Yes, Emre, The Glycine Guru, helped date it to late 1960 with the serial #, and my watchmaker confirmed a Felsa 692N movement inside. It also has the 10 sided screw back and non-cross-hatched crowns indicating an early incarnation.
Used to fly Delta fairly often. My absolute favorite flight was DCA to LIT via Cincinnati about 8 - 9 years ago. I was at a meeting and a blizzard was forecast for the east coast. Of the 12 in my group I was the only not charged to rebook early (thanks Delta) had option of routing through Atlanta or Cincinnati a couple hours later, storm was to come from Atlanta so said Cincinnati. As we were taxiing out the snow started. Was so happy to get out. Used to fly LIT MSY via MEM several times a year, stopped about the same time Delta scaled back MEM.
