Nice bezel and bracelet! Rough looking "not working" textured dial 2577 arrived yesterday. I threw it on a tropic for today as it surprised me by running just fine after setting the time. I'm looking forward to this project. I hope it cleans up!
Plan to go mt biking later today. Just fixed a flat tire with my good friend, Ed White. Been hanging out with him on Tuesday's.
New strap on 1949 Elgin Hunter. Folks at my local jewelry store enjoy oohing and aahing vintage watches. Found out one lady's dad was a watchmaker one of the men complained their watchmaker had moved to Memphis.
Great, so you just hit the transition. My Airman with the same dial was erroneously described as having the Felsa movement, but I found the A. Schild cal. AS1701, which was modified for zero-stop, too. Mick
Love all those valuable vintage Speedies, but in a major blizzard like today's, this one's for me -- never been serviced, regulated, adjusted or repaired in 14 years. Only the strap has been replaced.
Hey MadDog-how goes the flying with all this Snow-mageddon out there? I see you are flying out of "Minn"-are the schedules all FUBAR?
We've been flying over it and around it...luckily none of our departures or destinations have been affected (so far) regarding the four day rotation we're flying. Also, I'm based out of Cincinnati, OH...Delta's smallest pilot base.
Guess you're due... at least, if you want another 14+years out of 'er... ... and that one is definitely worth it!
Yes, Emre, The Glycine Guru, helped date it to late 1960 with the serial #, and my watchmaker confirmed a Felsa 692N movement inside. It also has the 10 sided screw back and non-cross-hatched crowns indicating an early incarnation.
