Wearing my second watch of the day, since this just arrived a few minutes ago at my office: the venerable Vostok Amphibia. It looks considerably better in person than in the seller's images on e-Bay. The bracelet is much more substantial and attractive than I expected, so I'm going to have it sized today.

By all accounts the watch is supposed to be built like a tank. Yes, I do believe I see something T-64 -ish.

Bezel...turret.... A T-64 on your wrist!

I wear my watch in solidarity. Not sure if that is the strap it comes with? I replaced mine with a rubber one. If you ever get a scratch on the Plexiglass Polywatch is your friend. I tested mine in boiling water then put it out in freezing weather as you gathered built like a tank no worries. All for a price of a g shock, a true tool watch.

Still one of my absolute favorites, along with my AT. 16710. Absolutely solid under any condition. You can do anything with it an it always looks nice. Maintaining a slimmer profile than the modern versions. Love it

Maximum speed 280 km/h:

Today I wore a rather atypical Officine Panerai watch, the Pre-Vend么me Mare Nostrum, ref. 5218-301/A.

The movement is an ETA cal. 2801 with a Dubois-Depraz 3127 chronograph module.

20160105_00519.jpg

I like the bold case at wearable size (42 mm diameter) and the special dial layout.

20160105_00520.jpg

The watch is mounted on its initial shark strap from the 1990ties. I'm still searching for a new strap resembling the original design - or for someone who could custom make one.

Cheers,

Mick

The Rothco band? I purchased it from Rothco...or so I thought...it appears as if the various Rothco bands (I have 6 bands in various colors) came from various Army Navy supply vendors that are Rothco dealers.
