Illinois Sangamo 21j converted to wristwatch. Case is new, made to fit 16s hunter movements. Work is done by my brother. I know there is a lot of pocketwatch entusiasts who think this is a shame, but look how beautiful the movement and dial looks in the new case. Only work left is to fit the balance wheel with a new staff.
It's new'ish. Not sure what caused it but I wear this watch almost every day and figured it was bound to happen. It bothered me for a moment then realized I can always have the crystal fixed or replaced. On of the many reasons I love this watch.
wabi, patina, character.....whatever.......makes it specially yours and keep wearing it in good health.
Yes, you are correct, mine dates to ~ 1962. Like the Eterna-Matics very much, also have a couple from the 50s.
Had to take the gold wedding ring off as I'm not a metal mixer! The Bride understands and agrees fully.
Well the Missus has left me alone for the day so I "trimmed" 3 of her lavender bushes, well pulled them up actually. Now I have to choose between some real man tools to dispose of the evidence, er, I mean the shrubery. I think the muncher would be better than the shredder! And you can't do a job like this without a suitable watch can you? So a freshly serviced Seiko 6309A, a gift from an "Uncle" (@UncleBuck, a real Uncle!) And thanks to the Seiko keeping me on schedule, the job is done. All one neat little pile that'll hardly be noticed by Her Majesty. And what's that on the muncher, somebody must have left a coldie there! Closer inspection revealed a chilled VB, just what I needed to get the dust out of my throat. And a quick check of the Seiko shows that I spent at the very least, 35 minutes hard at work while my Darlin' was away.
