路Flipping between footballe and the world series with my new acquisition. Picked up this guy from ebay for a cool $36 delivered. Horrible pictures. Terrible condition. Couldn't tell for sure if it was a 1 jewel wonder something nice. Could make out a date at 6 so took the plunge. Movement was very clean. Crystal was destroyed so much I couldn't see the make. A little bit of polish and light cleaning and viola! Very groovy Wakmann with a Valjoux 7734 inside. Nice.
This is a fine watch. Great catch!! The Valjoux 2x and 77xx series were ubiquitous but not for no reason. They're very high quality and depending on the manufacture, can and will have lots of upgraded finish work and mechanics.
Wakmann spent a lot effort on dial and case design and in my humble opinion created some of the most iconic watch designs of the 50's and 60's. Very "collectible"!
...but you most likely knew all this already 馃榾
