Starting the week here with this one. Short story about how I came to fall for this model: I was at a GTG talking to a collector about how the Portuguese re-issue with the spelled out IWC seemed interesting to me…at least in pictures. He replied “I know that one, in fact I have it!” A brief discussion ensued and he promised to bring his next time. The following year at our next GTG, imagine my surprise when he showed up with this: Not just one, but the complete SS/RG/PT set! My goodness, what a treat! There were 100 of these sets made, but many were broken up by buyers who wanted to reduce their cost a bit. Interesting note is that the owner said his favorite was the SS…because of the nice contrast between the hands/markers and the case. That night I became deeply hooked and knew I would probably come to own one someday. You all know how stories like this end… a year and a half later, I had my own SS Jubilee. YaY!
@donkii beautiful dial on that Carrera! What about the hands - can we get a closer photo? My Carrera is similar vintage (manual-wind '60s) and its hands' lume is a similar color.
Today I have been adding to my "Ex-military" claim for when it's time to put my FOIS for sale on eBay Very handy when doing timed shooting programs on the range. Love the feeling of activating the pushers instead of staring at some digital display.
Some patina but I must say I like it like this, gives it some life If you mean that the hands appears to be black, they aint, some shadow from me hanging over the watch makes them "black". The lume has a nice color tho
