I was a little cryptic but it was included in the post - ref 6024. A very small batch was made and they are all within a narrow band of serials. A somewhat rare reference and I think it is undervaluated. Some has called it a "pre-explorer" but that might be stretching it - but I do think one can see some relationship. I bought mine locally some years ago and very cheap. I think many bidders just read "Precision" and ignored it as a boy sized Rolex. I happened to notice its size and got it. I have collected pictures of this reference over the years and there are some different types of dials. My black dial of this kind I have yet to see another one of. The exact dial in white there are some examples of. There has been some sales here in Sweden at 1000 to 1700 USD but there was one that went for about 5000 USD: https://www.bukowskismarket.com/sv/...x-oyster-precision-refnr-6024-stal-ca1950-tal Why this one was valued at that level I do not know. Handsome dial but the case looks like it has had some extensive work done. Serial is 234 from mine. Normally I wear mine on a 19mm Oyster. And here is a pic of the white version (pic stolen from net)
Love my Speedy but the heat and humidity in Europe right now has me a bit more cautious wearing it so the GMT is the making the trip to Germany and Austria this week. Going strong at 6017ft. Just a light snack for dinner last night. Notice the nasty cough going on with the guy on the left. You would think one of his buddies would offer up a Ricola.
Quite a birthday present that. Wrong guy to recieve it though. Been there (Kehlsteinhaus) a couple of times and the view is breathtaking.
Going casual with this Fortis chrono today. The story goes that this LE run of 500 in 2005 were the last Lemania 5100's used by Fortis. Although specified at 42mm, it's really 44 due to some bezel overhang. Plus the dial is quite a bit larger than we're used to on 42mm Speedmasters. Here it is next to my 376.0822 with the same cal. Note how there is a bit less space between the sub-dials on the Fortis. The larger dial allowed the designers to grow the size of the sub-dials. Of course these B-42 cases are totally unapologetic about their thickness. At 16mm, lots of modern models are as thick or thicker, but this case and lugs make no attempt at disguising it. Have a good day everyone.
