Today, and for the next few days, my 60-year old Bulova Accutron 218 model with the 24-hour dial. Three of us are preparing for “Supertrain 2026” during which we exhibit (mostly) railroad standard wrist and pocket watches, and railroad standard clocks. This show features mostly model railroad exhibits, art, and hobby suppliers. Our exhibit has been part of this show for about 35 years, and is always appreciated by about 15,000 attendees over the week end.
I was looking at some nice guitars yesterday. Asked the gentleman if I could play one. He said “please be careful they are expensive”. I think it was 3k and it was very nice handmade in California. I had just bought some strings and had complimented his store.
It just rubbed me wrong. What does he think I’m going to go all Pete Townsend on his gear. I happened to be wearing my Rolex and I was going to make a comment. Then I realized that would make me sound worse than he so I politely said “of course I shall be careful.
Anyway sometimes it’s funny little stuff that grinds your gears. 90% of the time I really don’t care what anyone says.
Besides, he has a store full of guitars from 500-30,000 dollar guitars I just have a few nice watches.
Good afternoon all. My latest addition to my collection. To my knowledge, it’s a very rare Cursive Geneve with a jumbo black waffle dial and gold furniture. It’s almost impossible to photograph how beautiful it actually is, but I’ll work on it.
