What does an "error bezel" look like? What is the error?
Starting in 1968, England officially switched to the European time zone. So local time in London was an hour ahead of GMT. In response, Seiko updated their world time bezel, relabeling "London" to "GMT" and adding a new "London" label above the existing "Paris-Rome" label. The new bezels entered production in March of 1968 and comprise the majority of this particular model. It's informally called the "error bezel" because - by today's standards - it's clearly wrong to have London and GMT as different zones. (England switched back to GMT in 1971.) But of course it was correct at the time.
I got it wet yesterday playing with my boy by the pool! I was a bit worried but seems everything is fine. For some reason this one has become my daily driver…. Love this old beat up watch!😎
Got this about a week ago, just back from my watch maker today after a new crown and tube plus lens work and a service.
Has great wrist presence and that was the secondary reason for purchase well that and the low low price 😀
Have not been able to locate any images of one of these on Google so I suspect not too many made.
