My new to me Roamer Mustang Indianapolis only owned it a week, just fresh back from my watch maker this morning with a service and new lens, stunning dial and little case wear for a close to 60 year old watch. The period expander it came on was as clean ( not a scrap of any dirt! ) as if it was and probably is new back in the late 60's. How it survived so well all these years is due I would say to careful and minimal watch use.

Being a Mustang Indianapolis it deserves a proper leather sport strap to be entirely in the vibe for these iconic watches so will be on the hunt for something appropriate.

Difficult to capture the subtle deep blue of the faultless dial and hands at night but in the day and sunlight the deep blue is stunning.

One of those purchases where the vintage watch God was smiling on me for sure.

Roamer Mustang Indianapolis ref: MOD 471-1230.601

Nice clean movement ( prior to service photo ) with the witness marks on the weight and cashback being resolved in the service process.

The watch is a third generation, but manufactured early in the production run (March 1968) just before Seiko updated the bezel. So it's an "error bezel" model but with a "correct" bezel. Also, inexpensive third-party Aqua Terra bands fit remarkably well.

This Longines was a rescue watch bought for cheap off of Ebay 20-something years ago, long before I came aboard Omega Forums. When acquired it had a corroded dial, the numeral seven marker completely surrounded and nearly submerged in evil corrosion. I had the watch serviced and the dial sent off for a redo.

Wouldn't have bothered with the watch if I'd been on the Forum then to learn a bit more about vintage watch value, but the watch is serviceable as a "usin' watch" and it keeps reliable time too. I view it as a success story in its own way when it is chosen for wear.
