Bought this on a whim I don’t really dig the X on the prospex but not enough to avoid all iterations. The dial has really grown on me.

I’ve enjoyed wearing Accutron 214s for the last few weeks. Problem? No calendar! So today, to Hades with feng shui! Proportion, balance, call it what you will. Time for a watch with a calendar. In 1969, I worked for a Bulova dealer. I sold this watch to the original owner that year. That’s 56 years ago! Circa 2010, he’d lost his wife, and was in ill health, and had vision problems. He could no longer read his beloved Accutron, and nobody in his family wanted it. So he phoned me, and asked me to pay a visit. It was then that he gave me this watch. He wanted it to go to a good home. This was a popular model of Accutron in those days. Bulova closely associated this model with Apollo 11, the landing on the moon. In their point of sale signage and in their advertising, this model was often featured.

Finished my garage chores so I can put a fun watch back on for the rest of the evening.
Shout out to Ash for the story introducing me to this watch, as well as the eBay thread finding this particular example; it was a bit of a hunt to find the correct signed NOS omega beveled crystal, but here’s my chronostop on a milanese
