Having lunch with a brother collector today, so I’ll wear one he hasn’t seen. My 124 year old, 17-jewel, 1883 model, 18-size Waltham private label. Dial marked G W Beall, Lindsay, Ontario. Movement marked Canadian Railway Time Service. Enjoying it immensely since I sorted out a problem it has had for its entire existence!

This one hasn’t appeared here for a long time, so it’s about time. I resurrected a friend’s Gruen bumper automatic recently (I won’t let the cat out of the bag by showing it, here). After testing the Gruen on the wrist for several days, I kinda missed it. So this early 1950s bumper with the date at 6, is back on the wrist. I discovered this “waffle” dial in a lozenge tin of bumper automatic parts where it had languored for nearly 50 years. Checking further, I discovered that the REST of the calibre 355 movement was there as well. In pieces but complete except for the case. Through the magic of this site, and the internet, member @Tritium from Madrid, Spain, saw I needed a case. He had an extra one! Voila, here it is!
