HELP learned fellow OFers!
Today I am wearing a pre-revolution chronograph from high-end Havana jewelers Cuervo y Sobrinos. CyS imported watches from Patek Philippe, Ulysse Nardin, Rolex, Omega, Longines, among others, that were labeled CyS on the dial. They also had movements made in Switzerland for their own in-house line of watches. Those in-house watches most likely had CyS stamped on the bridges of their movements.
The movement of the watch I am wearing is a Landeron 51, and carries no clearly visible mark of who made the watch. However, there might be one clue I am hoping some learned fellow OFer can help me with. Years ago, I was reading an article that noted that one well known company selling chronographs housed the movements in cases where the case-back sat "proud" of the case -- i.e., the case-back was of a diameter slightly larger than the case itself. For the life of me I can't recall which company it was. Anyone able to solve this mystery? Many thanks for your consideration. Cheers!
