Captain Beefhart, what can you say?
On The Old Grey Whistle Test, it's a genius performance!

I had hurdy gurdy man stuck in my head for over a week it was a horror show I even named one of my watches the hurdy gurdy watch
Haha! It's a brilliant performance of hurdy-gurdy live, the session that I tried to upload was with on the Bobby Gentry show and the duets with her were wonderful.. There is also a BBC link that I uploaded that shows the whole episode if you can access it.

I posted one live hurdy gurdy where Donovan talks about George Harrison and proclaims Harrison the hurdy gurdy man so I don’t think we will ever get to the bottom of this.

Here is the one that kills me. It’s almost funny. But it gets stuck in my head. I play (not very good) guitar and this song is easy to play I often play it at work to annoy others but everyone walks around the rest of day calling each other the hurdy gurdy man

1984. We lived in Quebec City and I was 15. Language laws required radios to play a high percentage of French Canadian music.

Night time was mostly English music. I picked this up by hitting “record” for a 45 minute cassette side one night when I was awake. It recorded and my radio was on low volume. The next morning was time to discover what I had captured.

This song played. Still my favourite INXS song. Great band.

My first real concert I think I was 17 was Yes. I had never been to a big show didn’t know what to expect. Yes was a little past their prime but still firing on all cylinders. Chris Squire doing amazing thinks on the bass and Jon Anderson hitting some amazing notes. Somehow we got decent seats and 17 year old me became lost in the music, didn’t use the bathroom or get soda or food. Sat completely thrilled by the amazing music surrounding me.

I'm pretty sure he was homeless living on the streets for about four years:

Cool one. I read Tom Waitts was kinda a regular piano player until his wife turned him onto more obscure stuff like Cpt Beefheart. I don’t know how true that is but you can definitely hear the influence.
