When I used to play golf I sometimes used to play golf with Mick Avery. Good steady player. Played off 11, I think. Good steady drummer too. Better than that actually. Many Kinks anecdotes freely advanced - I'd told him I was a fan - in those pre golf days. For both of us I suspect. He was busy Kink ing, I was busy not Kink ing. But it came as a surpise how generally unloved was Dave

Just around the corner is the house George bought for his Mum and Dad to retire to - Sevenoaks - and where " somewhere in the North of England" he wrote this. George, what are you doing, dinner is on the table, come on, it'll get cold
