Sounds like home 馃憤

One of my fondest memories of living in Manhattan was one night getting off of work very late and straight blasting towards uptown (may have even been a saturday night hah) from downtown on Park Ave between 47th street all the way up to 72nd with the windows down and panoramic sunroof wide open while listening to:

For whatever reason I'll never forget those few minutes lol.

LA native who grew up loving NY/East Coast Hip-Hop. Uptown Saturday Night was played constantly from the boombox in my backpack during high school.

Growing up in the Bronx and the city in the 90s and early 00s, it was just what you heard everywhere. Takes me back

An unreleased early cut, but in my opinion the best they ever did.

My 80s playlist, which includes the following.... The 80s seem to me a musical high, mid 90s on it all turned out to be mostly rubbish... or perhaps I鈥檝e turned into a grumpy old man - my father! 馃槻

Hah! I always wondered if there was a "Pt. I". Because I love Pt. II!
Dare I say Pt. I may even be better....?

I prefer the originals generally, while the Pt. IIs may be the ones that got national airplay I feel like the original cuts were the ones that actually reflected the sounds you'd hear.

Another example is Smif-n-Wessun with Wrekonize, there's the hit single:

And then the stripped-down, classic beat which I tend to prefer.

After listening to both, I agree with you.

I remember this from the single. While I definitely like it, it's hard for me to like it more than Pt. II. The reaction it evokes after 25 years of listening in myself and people in the room (rooms that cater to hip hop heads anyway) when you hear that beat drop is matched by only a few.
