I love this thread. As a 'Third Culture Kid' raised across 3 different continents, and then heading back to boarding school in India, the music here brings us all together.

Something from my neck of the woods (India & Pakistan), a little soft and slow like most simple pleasures; tell me, what do you think?

I grew up on soul and funk in the '70s, and one of my favorite bands was, and remains, Tower of Power. Though Lenny Williams was a terrific singer, my favorite lead singer of their's was the much more recent Larry Braggs (now with The Temptations). Here he is with a very tight all-female band in Argentina doing a cover of the classic Work To Do, first recorded by the Isley Bros., but subsequently made famous by the AWB.

An RTI pressing of a classic. Of the many Van Morrison albums this is one of my favorites.

Great post, Akshay. Zeb & Haniya = amazing. Very clean, sort of visceral kind of soulful music that appeals to you. My wife and I loved Bibi Sanam Janum. First song I dedicated to her when we were engaged (married now for 6 years). Something about the beautiful Dari poetry and the mix of Afghani and Persian melodies and rhythm. This version of Bibi Sanam Janum is a modern day mix - the original, also sung in Dari, was by Wahid Qasimi. Coke Studio has been doing a fantastic job with remixes I think for the past few years.

Perhaps better suited to the joke thread, but for the musically inclined ...
