What's the verdict?...That was a difficult year for some given the intense heatwave that year. I was travelling across France in 2003 and many growers were concerned about over ripening and over concentration especially in Bourgogne.
Yes, but there are some fantastic bottles from '03 - especially for a New World drinker. I'm not a fan of many '04 Burgundies, but there are quite a few '03 bottles that I'd drink. If picked at the right time, an excellent final product resulted. If a group of us watch winos ever GTG, I'll bring a magnum of Ponsot or a 750 of 2003 Henri Gouges Nuits St. Georges Clos des Porrets as an example. 1997 was a ripe year too, and theres a couple Potel Clos de la Roche bottles in the Danby that are damn fine also. @alam - let us know how it was. I'm curious too.
@Faz Excellent! It was recommended by the rest manager as our first selection was out - I was in the mood for a more robust Bordeaux blend but decided with the recommended Burgundy, a bit lighter as expected but w/o doubt a well-balanced red! @ulackfocus .. turned out to be a good compromise as the wife tends to shy away from the full bodied types!
The Balvenie Caribbean Cask. I'd like to post this in the hopes that some other malt heads will sign the petition if you haven't already.
Holy fecken sheeyat - how did I miss this post? Nice line-up! I like the balance of 2 Left Banks / 2 Right Banks and a white Burgundy as the 'welcome' wine.
I just sampled this very one this evening during a local scoth/dinner pairing event. I must say that the Bruichladiich scoth expressions we tasted left me with a more favorable view of peat! The food pairings were well prepared and excellent!
As @alam noted, no suggestion of peat. It's actually very approachable as opposed to the Islay malts that many find a little too much (me not being one of them - I'm a big fan)
Haha, yeah, that was almost 2 months ago! Here's another shot with the some of the food we had with the wines:
I might have a go at that using my Liquid Nitrogen tank at work. I just need to buy a distillery first to supply me with enough whisky.
7 dollar small Goose Island IPA. Sure I'm seein Metalachi the best Heavy Metal Marachi band... But really?
This is smooth, nod to my friends up North for distilling such a fine whiskey. Mucking around with the photo editor as well. Cheers
