Delicious stuff. As you can see, a dram or two has already been consumed...

Reminds me that the Oban 14 yr old is on my must try list.

Good stuff. I had either this one or maybe one from 07, along with 07 and 09 cab, and the vintner's select Merlot on Christmas Eve. All so good!

Oooooo, nice! Their merlot is pretty good too - very fruit forward without going over the edge.
Thanks gents! Mrs Illiknight and I got engaged at Pride back in 2012, so my math was off, I'd been sitting on that bottle for 3 years. I decided first NYE with our 10 mo old son was a worthy reason for opening!

I have 1 bottle of '09 Cab left from Pride from what we bought in Aug '12. The merlots and petite syrahs didn't make it much past NYE 2013! Fully agree with your assessment on the merlot Dennis... it's nicely balanced and I was pleasantly surprised when we were there tasting them. Granted I was so nervous at what I was about to do they could've handed me grape juice to taste and I'd have bought a case!

Vintner's select sounds equally amazing! All this talk of Pride, plus my wife and I recalling how much we like their wine after all this time, will likely prompt me to order a case next time I get their release email.

We celebrated after Pride at Kelham Vineyard, owned by the family of a friend's brother in law, and joined their red wine club. We've enjoyed their wines tremendously (they occasionally release an excellent Sangiovese, somewhat of an oddity for a Napa vineyard), but had really forgotten how excellent the Pride wines were until I finally cracked into these last 3 bottles that we had/have. There may have to be a changing of the wine club for 2016!

Cheers and Happy New Year!

That's awesome, their property is beautiful. My wife and I did a private tour and tasting with my parents last year and it was fantastic.

It truly is a beautiful place and the lookout by the picnic area offers a great vista. I was super lucky in that no one was at the picnic area when we walked over there, so I didn't have a bunch of people gawking as I got down on a knee!

The private tour and tasting must be amazing. We were blown away by the group tour and tasting we went on through their caves and out onto that beautiful veranda, which is a much better view than the picnic area IMO.

The lady and I were just at Pride a few months ago. We bought a few bottles and brought a picnic lunch to the area off to the side. Great view and great wines!

Aberlour 18, but this one will not be a repeat, the A'bunadh remains my favorite of the Aberlour lineage.

I enjoy the new sherry butts of the A'bundah too. Although I also enjoy the tumbler you have there, Baccarat?

Is the perfect size tumbler, but is not a Baccarat - got a set in Germany several years back, the brand now escapes my old and scotch soft memory 馃榾

Still searching for good domestic Pinot Noir. Popped open a 2009 Cobain Wentzel Vineyard and liked it a lot. Even the wife thought it was decent. Had a hint of bay leaf, lower acidity, and very fine tannins that were nearly undetectable which would explain why Windy thought it was drinkable. Definitely going on the search list.

Opened my last bottle of Dow's 1977 Vintage Port. Much less vanilla than other producer's so we'll see if it's worth backfilling or not after a few days. Gonna be tough to pull $$$ away from 1966 and 1970 though.

How would you assess the 77 Dow? That's my birth year and port is the only good wine to come out of that year. So I've been keen on buying some (I always procrastinate though as my Bordeaux and Rioja purchases seem to take priority). Do you think it can still keep? Is it drinking well now?

Had this one a while back and I loved it, perfect marriage of old and new world. Nicely perfumed without being overly cranberry and tart. Tannins are well integrated and if I recall right, it wasn't too pricey.

Thoughts? Comments? '02 was a good year for fruity Cabs. Oakville / Rutherford Bench bottles would probably be pretty damn good.

I like the lower vanilla and it's drinking well now. So far it's one of the few that I've enjoyed from '77. It certainly has the stuff to age much further as I noticed tannin still present. Dow is generally less sweet than Graham's and this vintage is no different. Truth be told I won't seek out much more given that '66, '70 and '85 are so much better, but it's no slouch. Updates coming as it evolves over the next week or two in the fridge.

I'll search out a bottle. '07 and '09 were riper years which is what I'm looking for in a domestic PN. Thanks!

The '77 Dow has gotten a little smoother. Pretty nice, but not as fruity as I'd like.

Popped an '05 Ponsot tonight for dinner tomorrow. Such a young Burgundy needs a double decant to bring out the nose and fruit usually. This one was really nice within minutes which is unusual. Expectations went up a notch.
