I fell off the wagon.

Since I'm not getting any of James Hunt's famed Breakfast of Champions, this is the consolation prize.
Plastic spoon avoids the 'clinks'!
Trust me, I'm a Pro. šŸ˜‰šŸ„ƒ

ā€œPint of plainā€
From the Irish Poet, Flann O’Brien
The Workman’s Friendā€
When things go wrong and will not come right, Though you do the best you can, When life looks black as the hour of night - A pint of plain is your only man. When money’s tight and hard to get And your horse has also ran, When all you have is a heap of debt - A pint of plain is your only man. When health is bad and your heart feels strange, And your face is pale and wan, When doctors say you need a change, A pint of plain is your only man.
When food is scarce and your larder bare And no rashers grease your pan, When hunger grows as your meals are rare - A pint of plain is your only man.
In time of trouble and lousey strife, You have still got a darlint plan You still can turn to a brighter life - A pint of plain is your only man

Someone I work with got burnt out bought a liquor store last year and has been doing well. Despite it being in kinda a ā€œtoughā€ area she has clients coming in who seek those limited batch whiskeys and wines. I’ve been interested in acquiring a bottle of Heavens door whiskey. I know a few were released that Dylan signed I’m seeking it more as a collectable than a beverage. Not as an investment really more as a Dylan fan. A girl who works in my office helps out at the liquor store on the weekends.
I gave her the name ā€œBob Dylan’s whiskeyā€ but I completely forgot it’s called heavens door. I think the owner should know though. Hopefully Monday I have some prices and which bottles are still available.

Even if you aren’t a drinker it seems to be prudent to have some to offer guests so I’ll probably pick up a basic bottle as well if it makes sense.
Picture of a bottle I don’t have yet

Lapponia, Finnish cloud berry liqueur. A tad too sweet, but great taste.

I’m not a big margarita fan, but on the weekend I had a pineapple jalapeƱo version that was delicious. I want to make some for a party we are having this weekend, but I don’t normally drink tequila. I have this rather ancient bottle hanging around…

Still sealed and I’m going to guess it is close to 50 years old. More than half of the volume is gone, but if I strain out the floaters, is it still okay to drink? Asking the hive for their thoughts…

My concern stems from where did it go? It's best that liquor is stored in cool, dark places. High temperature can cause loss. Sunlight can damage liquor, it can also directly make liquor dangerous to drink in a large enough quantity. Both can spoil the taste. Was it stored upright the entire time? If not, constant contact with the cork or seal, which may not have been entirely and completely sterile when installed, can spoil the taste, and cause debris to precipitate. For the loss to occur, there was probably an exchange of air and oxygen, which can alter the taste. Even odors or fumes could've made their way inside. I suppose I'd be hesitant, but I also would like to try it. Centenario is pretty good tequila, too.

I had a bottle of Cristeros Reposado and Honorable Anejo that were over ten years old when I opened them. I stored them upright on top of my refrigerator (not the best in hindsight) and they were in clear bottles. So smooth. Even my generally non-tequila drinking friends were impressed.

The alcohol evaporates first I believe? I think I would carefully taste it and then pour it out and get a new bottle for the guests.
