··Nowhere near as grumpy as he used to be...(Not my picture, in the interest of disclosure: pretty sure it'd raise the wife's eyebrows if I stole down to the cabinet to snap one right now.)
The new Ardbeg Wee Beastie has been the dram du jour the last few jours, and I'm settling into an opinion of it. Although half as old, it's definitely > half the pleasure of its twice-as-old sibling in the stable of standard Ardbegs, but it's overpoweringly sweet, I think, and doesn't bring as much peat as any of the other Ardbegs. For $55 I wasn't expecting it to be like a $200 Supernova or anything, but it actually reminds me more of a Caol Ila---which is no bad thing, just not what I expected. (I never read other people's whisky reviews before trying something for the first time, as I feel like they invariably color the experience; I see now that other people have made similar judgments, which is vindicating.) Would definitely get this again---and it's probably a good whisky for someone new to Islays who might be leery of smoke, but it's not an Ardbeggy Ardbeg.
just picked up mine. Waiting to open it. I’ve got a few Ardbeg days and a bunch of committee releases. They are my 2nd favorite distillery on Islay.
@Omegafanman that Hibiki has dropped in price. It’s a nice dram but not the 400 that bottle crept up to.
@64Wing I’ve lost all respect for you. At least drink tecate light. But if you stay Mexican... stick with the greats. Modelo, Modelo Negra, Bohemia, and Tecate in a can.
@Wivac ivw got bad news for you most wines are blends. Like 99% of cabs are blends.
tonight I’m drinking Aviations, the real way with creme de violette.

I think it may be lost in translation … I meant I was having a single measure (one finger).... 1/5 of a gill... I can now see that might be misconstrued in the US. In the UK it can only cause confusion if you want a double.....
