Written numbers inside case back on Omega Geneve

This is an Omega Geneve I found on Ebay. It looks really good, but on one of the pictures you can see some numbers written inside the case back, probably with a marker. I asked the seller about it and he told me:

"That's the Omega service identifier. Some Japanese Omega specialist mark the case with a marker once they carry the service. Most Europe ones would mark/engrave the inside of case with something that looks like a surgical knife instead"

Is that true? It seems pretty unprofessional which is very weird when it comes to an Omega, although it´s only a 70´s piece.

Each watchmaker has their preference as to how they mark (or don't mark) watches after service.

The watch you have posted has very bad corrosion around the case back, this is a watch I would NOT recommend.
