So many beautiful photos in this thread. Really making me want a speedy. I’ve considered selling my seamaster several times and swapping in a speedy. I allow myself one expensive watch at a time, I’ve tried collecting it’s not for me

may have to go take a hard look at the 3861 my local Omega AD has both hesalite and sapphire on hand too !

Any Speedmaster can be worn everyday without issues, these are not some super complicated, dainty, quirky watches. An Ed White could be worn constantly for years with no issues. All Speedmasters with their newer, thinner, quasi-vintage bracelets feel more fragile and more delicate. But they are far more substantial and better engineered than the older folded link jobs, secured by pins.

Some people fret about accuracy and magnetism of a 321, but these aren't a real issue in day to day life. My 321 loses time when set crown up overnight, but gains when set crown down. I'm not a stickler for accuracy but just alternating crown up/crown down produces almost perfect accuracy for my watch.

I owned the 3861 before I got the 321. Surprisingly, after awhile I preferred the 3861 because of the how the dial looked to my eyes, so I traded the 321 for a 116600 and cash. Not everything appeals to everyone.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I wouldn't own two watches that are this visually similar, especially expensive ones. I'd much rather diversify my collection. But I do admire those of you with the finances and specialized interest to own both.

I currently own a 3861 Sapphire Sandwich and I love it to pieces. Recently I have been lusting after the new 321 Ed White and I got on a list at a local AD (not even an OB, ouch). I think that watch is absolutely stunning, has an incredible history, and something about the proportions are just perfect, but I digress. Although the chances of me getting one of these pieces from the AD are slim to none, I have been thinking about what I would do with my 3861 if offered a 321. Do any 321 owners have a 3861 as well? How do you divide wrist time between the 2? Contrarily, do any of you think the watches are too similar to warrant having both?

I believe they are too similar and I wouldn't pay the premium to own the Ed White Limited Edition. However, if you are thinking about reselling it eventually, that could be different.

Nope. Have no desire to own either.
