    Hello friends,

A watch nerd buddy asked me question the other day:

"If you had to decide between a Speedmaster Ed White or a Red Sub feet first mark 4 or mark 5 dial, which one would you choose?"

I selected Mr White... cause that's what I wear.

But since then I've been wondering - if I owned a Red Sub mark 4 as well, the decision would be much more difficult.
If push came to shove and I could only live with one watch, maybe it would be the Red Sub. I don't know... which would you have if you had to choose and why?

I would say it is easy to find a fine quality red sub. All you need is money.

To find a fine quality ed white is very hard. You need money and luck. And then you end up buying one not quite fine and want to buy the better one that comes along in a few months.....

It's a size thing. Bigger is better. Ask any woman which watch she prefers on her man. She'll say "the big one please". Plus the E.W. has buttons and more numbers and dials and stuff. Very manly.

I have both and will have to go with the sub if forced to pick just one. Sentimental reasons aside, the sub is more versatile, durable, and functional.

But why choose? It is not like you are restricted by laws or morals to only have one or the other.

Why not both? Or make a franken Red White? :p

Or even better, NEITHER and get a watch with class like a GP 1966 or JLC Master Ultra-thin?

That's not a Red Sub. It's a double red so you need an ED Ultra White or a DoubleED White or ?

    That's like a 72 911 vs a 67 fastback Mustang.

They are both iconic but different.

I will admit I do not know much about Rolex, and I do appreciate the vintage Rolex pieces that are shared here on the message board. With that said, I much prefer all that the Omega Speedmaster has to offer.

I did not know much about the US space program prior to becoming an Omega Speedmaster fanboy, so it has been a HUGE plus to learn more about US space history.

Did you know that Ed White was a track and field athlete? He was a legitimate Olympic hopeful in the 400m hurdles. He almost made the 1952 Olympic team. He set a record at West Point in the 400m hurdles.

Oh, and he was the first American to walk in space.

I own an Ed White and a Gemini4.
