Would you be interested in buying shares of a luxury watch as an investment?

Agreed, and the prices being asked are still bonkers, but even at the “reduced” prices watches aren’t selling.

I am hearing more and more stories from folks in London who are picking up unused watches bought for “investment” at RRP, because the “investors” are panicking and need liquidity.

It’s an ongoing shit show where idiots are showing just how idiotic they are.

And no one should be fooled by the dealers who are selling pieces back and forth amongst themselves, to try to keep the illusion of high prices alive...

There's some speculation that the fake "Rolex is shutting down for 6 months" letter that made the rounds recently was written by a grey dealer trying to keep prices up. ::facepalm1::

Most things were up 2.5~6x (or more). 30% drop of that still leaves everything over valued by an order of 2~4x magnitude. I still feel like I am missing something…

This isn't quite consistent with my observations. I never saw anything close to a 6x mark-up, but 2.5x yes. Currently, for many of the sport models, I have seen a 30-50% drop and I am seeing grey market prices much closer to MSRP, maybe 20-25% over, and they're not flying off the shelves.

RRP is what…round 5k?

Then all those Pateks etc.

I just don’t see a popped bubble when things are still whole multiples of original price overvalued. But that’s just me…

To answer the OP: No! I’d rather watch @tyrantlizardrex flatten his nuts in a draw 😁

TBH, I don't really follow the pricing on these, but I just looked up MSRP and it's over $6k. Current gray market asking prices seem to be about $10k, but I don't know if they're actually selling at that price. Things really have changed a LOT, very quickly.

Edit: If you look at the new Submariners, the MSRP is $9k-$10k depending on the model IIRC. Gray market prices were well over $20k, now down to $12k-$13k.

I still see more room for those OPs to go down, especially when it’s blatantly not Tiffany blue or even Tiffany related.

Well, keep in mind that asking prices on some of these were over $400k at one point...

I'm sure we can all find watches with silly asking prices. And I'm not cherry picking this particular model. See my added comments above about a more meaningful piece, the new Submariner.

Thats an actual sale. And I witnessed more actual sales round that mark.

Totally bats—tcrazy.

but I just looked up MSRP and it's over $6k.

5500CHF here. I think they were a bit cheaper when I last tried one on…

Do you know if these were sales to end users, or between dealers?

I’m beginning to suspect shilling on a mass scale.

Maybe the OP should try Reddit.

That was my answer too, I knew I liked you for a reason. 😀

At this point in time we are back to 2018 prices across the board. They already looked inflated at the time.

There's been some beautiful stuff in the private for sales section between 300 to 2k. Not as posh as PP but nice nonetheless.

Still hoping people selling Snoopy3s will get smacked. I'd like to buy a new Rolex GMT at list, but I really don't care that much if I never do. Something about people charging 29k for a Snoopy gets under my skin.
