Morning all,

I'm trying to fill up with as many recorded, or at least organised interviews as possible - enabling me to do less dashing around, and actually get more stuff done.

Would anyone here (who's in, near, or visiting London), like to come on the show, and talk about their watches?

Hopefully you all know the format, you bring along a selection from your collection and talk about them either:

As a group of watches on a theme as @LiquidSolid, @Spacefruit, @ewand and others have done.

Or

As a chunk of various things from your collection you like as many people have done, including @neilfrancis who got talked into doing the show twice!

Or

As on a very targeted theme like this week's show with @TsoloT where we can really drill down into one model.


Hopefully everyone who's taken part so far can tell you that it's a very relaxed, easy going thing, and we just sit down for a chat, but with microphones and a recorder running.

I'd like to see some confrontative interviews with the resellers who have made an ass out of themselves on here alá ev3rclear or whatever his name was

On the one hand, I'd love to do that, on the other hand, I have concerns that it would go this way (and I'd still love to do that):

 

Those always work better on film though.

Maybe a car-park meeting posing as a buyer, then break out the camera and microphone. Then the chase across the car-park and down a canal tow-path, repeatedly shouting "you knew they were shit watches didn't you". And I can see the cookie monster suit making a come back.

 

Ever had any episodes end up on the cutting room floor?
That would be my episode, if there ever was one. The combination of lack of knowledge, a poor memory and a rag tag collection of watches wouldn’t be a winner.
However, there are some people out there that I would love to hear on the Podscast, gently coerce into the limelight - maybe I should pm you Chris!

I do like Troels idea, kind of like the Cook Report, dangerous but entertaining

We could do a "Scandi Special" where @styggpyggeno1, @tapaptpat and yours truly meet up a few hours in advance, drink strong liquor and get even more depressed than we usually are in the depth of winter, followed by an interview about the merits of 60% taxation, surströmning and woolly jumpers. The first one to get too plastered to speak gets dubbed by the Swedish Chef from the Muppet Show. Not that anyone will notice.

 

Followed by some 'alpha male' bonding, by rolling naked in deep snow.........?

A group of Scandi drunks....it will either turn into a massive love in where they become best friends forever or they will punch the crap out of each other arguing which country is the best.

Well that' true, it might start out as one thing and turn into the other. Have been to nattspill and seen that happen

 

I have a better idea - come visit us in Singapore where we have a pretty diverse community of watch lovers. You'd get 10 interviews, easy! Beer is on us!

 

Are the flights and hotels on you guys too?

 

Watches of the Royal Family If the V&A Museum is anything to go by, they will have a whopping far reaching collection...

 

Maybe they are longtime OF lurkers and also have a rare and interesting watch or 4000 worthy of discussion... ...maybe tomorrow some dude carrying a gun with a funky red jacket and a funny black hat (reminiscent of Tina Turners hairdo) will come and 'politely escort' you out the house...

On a more serious note (I know it would be hard to get through to the Royal fam, but still, could be interesting as hell, not to mention span several episodes) ... what about 'the watchmakers perspective'? Go have a chat and a cup-o-tea and talk watches with e.g. Mr Freese or someone else you know at STS? Not sure how much overlap there would be with what you and Sir Alan discussed, but if I remember correctly Simon does not hoard watches ... maybe someone at STS does? You could e.g. discuss a theoretical collection a watchmaker would own based on their experience of the internals of the stuff they have worked on? You could do the converse too. You could try and bridge 'peoples perception' of watches (i.e. the popular watches) vs 'the watchmaker perception'. 'Tricky fixes' they have done ... I am sure a lot of them keep pics. Maybe that's all a horrible idea...I know I would enjoy hearing about it all.
