7 years on a nato, the bracelet will feel like an anvil hanging of your wrist!
But its a beautiful bracelet thou. Good luck!

I don't think it will have a large effect on resale value. Just enjoy it.

One of the joys of this hobby is the opportunity to mix things up by buying different straps and rotating them all.

The annoying lug width of 21mm does limit your choice of alternatives, but I managed I get these for approx £20 each:

Personally, I like the extra weight because it constantly reminds me that I am wearing something of substance.

Very important to do that for Rolex which are investment piece. Might as well keep them in safe and wait for them to appreciate.

Doesn't matter for other watches, they lose money regardless.

Really if you are worried about that kind of depreciation, perhaps stick to Rolex and their Tudor brand.

So do I, but after wearing my Seamaster on a rubber strap the last months, I put it back on the bracelet. It lasted only a week, it got too substansial. 😀

Interesting... generally I prefer a lighter strap, NATO or leather, vs a metal bracelet. Although many of my watches came with a metal bracelet, I usually take the bracelet off and place a strap... just a personal preference. I never thought about "saving" the bracelet, I just like the feel of a strap. Call me crazy.

If you are worried about damaging the bracelet which you have never worn, I'd say give it a try. You might like the look and feel of the bracelet and if you are worried about scratching the bracelet, wear a long sleeve shirt and put a piece of scotch tape over the clasp.

I think it's good to have a spare bracelet--just in case. I have a Citizen atomic watch that was my daily wear for about 5 years. The duo-tone bracelet developed severe wear and scratches, so I bought a new bracelet while they were still available. Of course it's much cheaper to buy a Citizen bracelet than an Omega, but the watch looks almost brand new. As I wear that Citizen less frequently now it will look new longer.

I have been wondering whether I should try out the bracelet for a bit, but am somewhat concerned that it will get scratched, etc. and take away value.

The watch itself, obviously, shows wear from its 7 years on my wrist.
I have the regular 300mc and the polished bits naturally show wear over time. I don't think it makes sense to hold off wearing the bracelet in hopes of a higher resale value down the road, when the watch head shows wear.

Have the ultraman and decided not to use the two straps for this exact reason. Just bought the copies. It must have at least a positive effect on the resale value but with most things in life you never know how much.

well, I'm giving it a try. I think I might like the nato better...

Having this same watch, I've never tried swapping out the nato for the bracelet, and seeing this image. I can say at least in my opinion that this watch definitely belongs with the nato strap.

I have a Seamaster 300 Spectre edition. It has hardly been off my wrist since I purchased it in 2015. I have worn it exclusively with the nato strap it came with. At the time of purchase, I also bought a second 007 nato strap.

Both the bracelet and the nato strap are stamped 007. Are these accessories also limited in availability?

Thanks,

Seamasters are excellent watches but I’m not sure the value will ever get to the point of which you bought it for. Sure they could go up but it’s a tool watch first and foremost. You probably got some dings and hairlines out of the way on the watch already so toss it on the bracelet and wear the heck out of it. The first scratch is always the worst lol.

Well, after a couple of days on my wrist, the bracelet is back in the box and the nato is back on the watch. I thought the bracelet gave more emphasis to the watch itself, but I preferred the overall look of the nato.

Thanks everyone for the encouragement to experiment.
