I bought this constellation online for 1600$ and I am having doubts. It hasn't come in the mail yet and I'm already thinking about returning it -- thankfully the seller accepts returns. I made the purchase before reading through the information on this site, so now I feel like a dunce. After comparing the seller's images with images of other constellations, what stands out to me the most is the overly-polished case. The lugs aren't crisp like they should be and the medallion on the back has three stars worn down. Also, the movement seems like it needs a major cleaning and new parts. Compared to other constellations that have sold at similar prices points, I feel like I shot myself in the foot.

Overall, I suppose that I'm looking for reassurance that I should return the watch.

I would certainly send it back if it was described as having a chronometer movement as it has the wrong movement.

It may be the angle of the pictures but There is also something odd about the case proportions.

I would suggest Perhaps a little more research before you dip your toe into Constellations.

Agreed, but I can't quite tell what it is.

The bezel has been replaced, the crown is incorrect, and the watch has been poorly polished. Get your money back.

As above the bezel looks too large in diameter, it’s covering both the lugs and crown slightly.

It should be an easy decision to return this one.

Thanks for the insight everyone. I've been eyeing a constellation to pair with my cal 354 Seamaster. The difference is that I bought the Seamaster in person from a watch dealer lol. I didn't realize looking for a constellation online would be a minefield. I'm looking at this as a hard lesson learned.

Compared to many new members, it sounds like it really won't be a hard lesson for you, because the watch can be returned.

    Seller is a watch
enthusiast with more that 7k transactions and 100% feedback, so I felt confident about that.

    This was the description:
"This exquisite men's wristwatch by OMEGA Constellation is a luxurious blend of functionality and style. With a smooth gold bezel, silver pie pan sunburst dial, and baton indexes, this watch will make a statement on any occasion. The watch features a mechanical automatic movement and is Swiss-made, with a chronometer and date indicator.

The two-piece black leather strap with an 18mm band width is comfortable to wear, and the case is made of stainless steel with gold. The watch is 34mm in size and has a solid caseback. With its elegant design and premium features, this OMEGA Constellation watch is a must-have for any watch enthusiast."

Well, as I said, the movt is not chronometer rated.

It is the cal 563, which IIRC is the US 17 jewel movt?

A dogleg with date should have a cal 561 or cal 564 (excepting the later Oriental version of course)

Return the watch and keep looking for a decent authentic version.

Typical bullshit description saying nothing about the watch but designed to wow the uninformed, which it did. Send it back.

Agree, that was the 'odd' feeling that I also had. Looks out of proportion

Well-spotted - not your usual gussied up example that's just seen too much polishing, the bezel and the movement are something else. If the seller has done a few thousand watch deals I'd assume he knows. Proportions are way off on this thing.
