World time purchase with no plans on traveling‍♂️

So as the title says, I purchased a world time function watch and I hardly travel. Forstlet here is the watch. It’s the tissot navigator.

I really love the look of the watch. Beautiful lugs, lovely dial and hands. My only complaint would be that it’s a 43mm piece. But I get away with it so no matter.

the world time function allows me to know when my watch friends around the world are awake and available for a chat.

I love world timers too - there are relatively inexpensive ones, and expensive ones. I like a lot of them!

This is my grail world timer:

Very cool grail.
I couldn’t justify high end world time watch when I would barely use the complication.

Some frequent travellers would buy a world timer but not wear it out of fear of being robbed abroad. Nothing about this hobby needs to make sense 😀

Yes - this grail being a case in point! Depends on the destination though... Would I wear it in Latin America? No. Would I wear it in Asia? Yes.

Some of the world timers are so busy and the writing so small that it’s just a novelty for my bad eyes. When I travel I typically just make a mental note that the destination is +6hrs and then if I call home I subtract six hours. Not sure how the world timers account for daylight savings time or countries that use half-hour time differences (looking at you India). If I need to know for sure I end up using my phone/internet

From the 8 years I have spent deep diving in the hobby I have found nothing makes sense.

A world time watch these days has become redundant because of the phone. For me I got the watch because I love the look, I like how it is very similar to the original (I have a vintage and vintage inspired collection) and I do use the function, I mean I play records and shave with a straight razor so it’s not a stretch for me to use the world time function.
By the way I’m 39.

I have taken mine abroad but do international calls for work mostly daily and find it very useful to glance at the time there before I do. Could use phone of course but actually quicker to use watch and love that I can use for its intended function.

🥰 I've only looked at world timers casually for the most part with little intention to buy one, but those Tissot's above are some of the nicest I've seen! I love how the cities become a simple design element instead of making the dial or bezel busier. Very clean!

Wait, you bought a world time watch but have no plans of traveling? How ridiculous!

Now please excuse me, I am going scuba diving. Then I’m flying a plane. A little later, I might go to the moon.

I like this one by Andersen Geneve - you can even choose which cities to put on it - (give it a try, it's either difficult to make the choice as so many major cities vie for that timezone, or almost impossible to find one because there is nothing there in that part of the world!)

Still, looks beautiful to me, although I know nothing about this watch-maker - anyone know anything about "Andersen Geneve"??

Me too 🥰
The original version is a fantastic watch, and beautifully proportioned. Unfortunately, the re-issue is a monstrosity, IMO. Fortunately, it seems that the oversized trend is waning, and most people are no longer desiring to wear Invicta-sized watches.

I had the pleasure of trying one of these little platinum beauties on once upon a time - a very, very, lovely watch.
You can see by the splendid colour and highlighted city that it was intended for a particular market.

Only £150k - second hand!
(not that they would have sold it to me anyway as I hadn't already bought a brace of Patek's from them previously)

Green... of course! Very beautiful, I didn't know of this special edition. I would stick with the blue as it's a bargin at about half that price! 😁

How was it to wear? The proprtions look excellent. If money were no object would you have bought one?

The watch isn't huge and as I have quite small wrists it sat very nicely on my wrist -but I do habitually wear smaller watches (vintage Constellations)
By chance I was wearing my gold 14382 that day and the PP salesman was as fascinated by my deluxe Constellation as I was by his World timer

I have to say that the blue one shown above is also very nice.

Yes, if money were no object I would gladly wear the PP world timer.

Here is a pic of the Constellation I was wearing that day -34.5mm across -so a good comparison of size on my wrist
