Let's see your EDC gear. Here is mine: Benchmade Mini-Bugout pocket knife, Fisher Bullet Space-pen with Cerakote finish, and the world's smallest smartphone a Unihertz Jelly 2.

Is it an American term? I had to Google what EDC meant.
I’ve usually got my car keys and a bank card.

I think EDC (Every Day Carry) is more of a hipster internet term, and refers to the fancy little gadgets designed to be carried at all times. Pocket knives, pens, flashlights, and prybars are common examples of EDC gear. @STANDY has got some cool EDC kit.

Interesting. I assumed it was an evolution from everyday (firearm) carry and thus more prevalent in countries where it’s easy to legally buy and carry guns.

I used to trade antique jewellery so I guess I would say aside from my phone and watch, a jewellers loupe was part of my EDC for a while but I haven’t done that for over ten years.

Perhaps a decent pocket knife/multi tool needs to find its way into my pocket now as with two young children I always find there’s something to unscrew/unpick/repair

What functions do you use regularly?

Knife to breakdown boxes, open packages. Scissors for fingernails, file to clean up rough edges, hook to undo knots, pen when I don't have one, screwdrivers, bottle opener, even used the wire splicer. Has a pin and tweezers to remove splitters.

Usually these two. Benchmade S90V and Longines pen.

Sometimes the Benchmade M4, but it's slightly bulkier. It's fantastic for home remodeling projects.

There's an old EDC thread on this list somewhere. The one staple of my EDC is the Gerber Dime. Not a very good blade but use the scissors, tweezers, bottle opener, and pliers come in handy. I rotate knives often. Lately it's been Moore Maker out of Matador, TX (shameless plug). Made in USA, durable, holds a good edge and a good price. Omega wallet. Awesome!

I carry too much stuff, always have. Pocket knife with an amazing Olight mini flashlight, car fob, and a Secrid wallet that keeps everything very organized and actually gets a lot of compliments.

And house keys with building entrance fob. Because I wanted to do it myself and save some money, I bought replacement hardware from the Orbit key organizer company in a Black Friday sale and made my own key organizer from black shell cordovan. Their little bottle opener tool is really handy, it has a sharp section for cutting through packing tape, a rough section that serves as a nail file, a small ruler too. The key organizer eliminates rattling keys in my pocket, and keeps keys from cutting through my pockets too.

And when thrifting or hoping to come across watches while out and about, my watch knife and loupe holster.

Every morning I leave the house I repeat the mantra "Phone, keys, glasses, watch, hat" so I guess that's my EDC these days. 😜

Phone is a Google Pixel 9 Pro, excellent phone so far. Keys are on an older model Orbitkey, black leather with stainless hardware. Glasses I have no idea the model, sunnies are Ray-Ban Wayfarers though. Watch... well. And hat is just a baseball cap where appropriate, has a unit patch from a previous contract on it.

I did used to carry a Bellroy Card Sleeve wallet about five years ago after I'd stopped carrying coins but still needed notes and a debit card. That was a really good wallet, it even survived the wash a couple of times. Now I don't even need that, Australia makes it easy to go cashless and the card is in the phone digital wallet now. Headphones, pen, knife or anything else are all situationally carried, not EDC.

Spyderco always. This thread inspired me to give it a quick sharpening. I should probably get the proper tool for serrated blades, but my Standy training did the job.
