With the new Bond, do they need to finally retire the Walther PPK, what should replace it?

Ok, to get this back on track, I'd suggest a UPS Compact in .40cal. Pic from net.

Here’s a crazy riff off Ash’s point 1 : They get a race-gun manufacturer to do something similar to the Browning Black Label (ie a 3/4 scaled 1911 in 380), but make it a double stacked 2011 style … more bullets, easy to conceal carry and comparable in size to PPK … waaaaay better trigger and shooter in general … Q makes some crazy bullet-tech …

Now what will the new wrist candy be?

So you're a gun manufacturers should, like Omega, jump on the Bond bandwagon?

I like it!

Yeah 😀 like the first gun on the Moon or the first gun in space!! love it. If you want to see an imagining of that look at the TV series For all Mankind, that had plenty of guns on the Moon.

There were some really interesting articles after that scene on the moon discussing how they had approached NASA and scientists as well as gunsmiths over that bit of the series.

From memory all the main rifles of the time would have worked with minor charges, the M16 for a very limited number of rounds, the AK74 for a few more, and the AKM more again.

It was suggested that the ideal would be something using a heavy but slow 9x39mm subsonic cartridge as the taper helps a lot, as does the low energy as bullet drop isn’t a factor, ideally from an open bolt to increase tolerances which sounds like something the KGB would have said “yes comrade please make us one” to.

John Wick never had a problem looking dashing with a Glock. So despite the plastic bias by some 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Glock 19 is obvious choice

And Q could accessorize the shit out of a Glock

I will admit to a certain bias against both plastic and aluminum alloy as materials suitable for use in firearms. John Wick had to contrive to look dashing despite being limited to use of a gun fabricated from land fill grade materials. And, no amount of accessory protruberances can serve to dress up garbage.

Offered in the spirit of entertaining Forum debate. Quartz watches affect me in much the same way.

Well said. I don't own a quartz watch and I don't own a plastic gun.

A glock is simply the quartz watch of the gun world. It's a tool, it does what it's advertised to do, but that's it.

I appreciate a well made tool that exemplifies craftsmanship. There is no craftsmanship in plastic guns or quartz watches.

I don't mean to be so persnickety, but there is plenty of craftsmanship that goes into the tooling for the various parts.

noun
noun: protuberance; plural noun: protuberances
  1. a thing that protrudes from something else.
"some dinosaurs evolved protuberances on top of their heads"

    Similar:
    bump

    lump

    knob

    hump

    jut

    projection

the fact or state of protruding.
"the large size and protuberance of the incisors"

Protruberances as pertaining to the Glock 19. Now I ask you, do you really think that James Bond requires such shooting crutch gadgets in order to effectively utilize his handguns? None of these protruberances, in any combination up to and including the special silliness of bayonets and Spartan axes, can elevate any plastic pistola of being anything other than plug ugly.

Tool and die services are still services that require a high level of craftmanship and competence to do well. So, the guys who set up the tooling are still craftsmen.

However, I'd argue that the high degree of mechanization within the Glock factory, and pretty much any currently operating gun manufacturer, has limited the amount of craftmanship that goes into each gun that rolls off the assembly line.

So, if I walked up to a female in a bar and said I had large protuberance, chances are I would get slapped? "Bond, James Bond"
