"Like new"?? Really?? I just don't understand this collector attraction to seriously beat up watches at extremely high prices!

I realize my education on collectibility is ongoing, yet this seems like a wee bit of overreach. Talk about hefty noob taxation rates. The date window’s charming, however.

Ahahahahagaha
I have no idea what the rate is but maybe the guy forgot to do a currency conversion lol

Don’t get me wrong, I loved mine! The rose gold furniture and those coffin markers were the best! But $5900 for an example with THIS dial? And the movement although apparently serviced, looks like it’s seen better days

Seller describes the dial as two tone

Today on Catwiki the experts put an estimated €600/€700 valuation on a geneve.
Is heavy pitting the new patina ???

Found this advert - for a redialled ref 2365 with very consumed lugs - particularly wishful and uninformed:

Here's something for your enjoyment, from my local market. Description goes like this: 157 grams Gold case, ETA replica movement impeccable condition both aesthetically wise and functionally wise. He says nothing about the watch being genuine or not. Only 8k € ! This is insanely ironical as this guy is selling some very expensive cars, therefore he could afford the real thing.

These jokers have started listing on Invaluable too;

https://www.invaluable.com/buy-now/omega-speedmaster-professional-moonwatch-1966-ss-1f64aebacb
In this case "like new" means a service case back, crown, bezel, later bracelet etc etc.

It appears to have gone up in value too...

OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch 1966 SS 321 Movement - $35K Appraisal Value!

This timeless piece will ship exactly as photographed in LIKE NEW condition. This watch also comes with:

FREE $35,000.00 Certified Insurance Appraisal,

What drew my eye first to this outfit was an honest-looking Seiko 6139-6009; it's fairly early (March 1970) in the cycle and despite being the least sought after (blue dial) has a few desirable attributes (RESIST dial, 2-piece chrono hand, notched case, original bracelet). Maybe worth $1000 if it's running OK and the wind is following it.

Frankly, I wouldn't mind making a reasonable offer on this, but I doubt the seller has any understanding of value. 🤦

The description clarifies why this is so dear: "Confidently enjoy your bustling lifestyle with this Omega Seamaster men's analog watch. This Omega Seamaster has a leather band, giving you endless comfort and unmatched style. Featuring an automatic mechanism, it doesn't require batteries. Instantly improve your daily style with this Omega Seamaster watch."

So it's one of those quartz watches.
