Saw this one on craigslist today, for the low, low price of $13,999. Yes, the bracelet is made out of 162 grams of gold, which should be worth north of $4000, but I'm afraid they are manufacturing another $10K in value that isn't there: https://phoenix.craigslist.org/nph/jwl/d/omega-watch-with-116-gr-22ct/6474803935.html
Looks like it would ride comfortably on the wrist despite the heft of all that gold. Gaudy but there's at least some redeeming quality to those wings.
Maybe not as egregious as some, but the BIN price on this of $5,695 for a 1982 Speedy that has been molested by Omega is a tad optimistic: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Omega-Spee...188130&hash=item3d597b2047:g:VS4AAOSwBRVaXmTXPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
I can see wanting an un altered watch that is still in great shape and being willing to pay extra for it, but a watch repaired and refurbished at the factory using OEM parts and supplied with a fresh factory warranty seems to be the next best thing. That's only my un educated opinion though.
What happens when you take a lot of time, effort, and energy to make something worth less than it was originally.
For educational purposes: in which way did Omega molest the watch? (After 2 relistings, seller has withdrawn)
Sometimes it does. I know someone who bought a Tiffany signed Patek LE less than 2 years ago for ~$50k and some estimates have it being valued >$100k now... Not sure how much of the value is based on it being a PP, vs an LE, vs the Tiffany sig, but somehow the combo seems to be valued highly. I doubt getting my Seiko Sea Urchin signed by Target will help it's value any though... ? EDIT: oh dear, just realized I quoted a post from 2013... dunce cap on and to the corner I go.
Replaced bezel, replaced hands, appears to have done some case refinishing, etc. At least the hands and bezel are included in the sale. But they are still asking a serious premium.
Always the question: do you want to look at a watch that looks like new, or one that you know is unaltered? I think some watches deserve cosmetical treatment, while others certainly deserve to be left untouched, at worst cleaned.
I think this is a tad optimistic at £12,500, even for a gold Connie. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VINTAGE-...AL-564-SOLID-ROSE-GOLD-WATCH-BOX/183026257997Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
Strangely enough, my senses were assaulted by some other crazily priced Constellations after seeing that. Damn those eBay algorithms. I'll probably never see another sensibly priced watch again.
