Kyrgios vs Nadal final for me.

Well, they are on the same side of the draw, so that isn’t happening...

When I see modern sports...any of them...begin to look like modern music...I turn them off. There once was real meaning to the term "Ladies and Gentlemen"...and to "good manners" and "sportsmanship." Yes, I'll sporadically tune it in and watch...and if I find someone I really like, I'll root for them. But I'm no longer an avid fan.

I was looking forward to tomorrow even though it was the semi’s

But health is more important and there is always next year!

Thanks for getting this back on track from the old man yelling at clouds...yes, unless Cam Norrie can pull of the upset tomorrow, I'll be in the same boat as you. By the way Kyrgios has a 2-0 record against ND...but of course in the final of Wimbledon, I'm not sure that matters much.

It would have been a great match!

Women's final is set now. I don't think anyone would have predicted Rybakina in the final - certainly not me, but she has been solid and able to control her emotions so well. She pretty much hammered Halep today. I think she is going to give Jabeur a very tough time by taking away time with her power. I think it will be difficult for Jabeur to playa lot of the variety she normally does with how little time she's going to have on service returns, and even rally groundstrokes.

Maybe I can root for a double retirement. 👎

Whatever happens in his semi against Djoko, I'm so pleased for Cameron Norrie. NCAA champion to Centre Court is quite a journey, and he's made it without any obvious weapons (except perhaps his remarkable fitness). He's understated, and apparently he likes it that way, but I have felt a little irked on his behalf by the lack of respect he has had since he arrived on the professional scene. When he arrived at Indian Wells as reigning champ and got put on outside courts, that just wasn't right imo. And most British people (for whom tennis exists for one month a year) didn't seem to know he was their top-ranked player until a week ago, which might explain why even the Wimbledon schedulers only put him on the big courts when they had no option.

Rooting for Kyrgios in the final too, unless Norrie does the near impossible and beats he who shall not be named.

Great match between Fritz and Nadal, a literal gut check ( sorry about the bad pun ). Fritz and Krygios would have been an interesting match. Not a fan of walkovers, maybe should create rule that allows the individual who lost the last match against the person who withdraws to play in their place... just a thought. Krygios will definitely be well rested for the final.

I admit now, I felt truly bummed when I worked out the implications of Kyrgios's last completed match on his way to the final being against Cristian Garin. Now, I've seen Cristian play, he's good, he's rising, and I'm pleased he made quarter-finals. But he just might not have made it past round one if his scheduled opponent had not had to withdraw on the day with Covid. It seems such a long time ago now, but that opponent was Matteo Berrettini, and I don't think Garin, his subsequent opponents, or Nick Kyrgios would have been able to stop him. And a Djoko-Berrettini final really would have been a match to see, with the outcome finely balanced. Berrettini won Queen's in style (again), and is one hell of a player on grass. (I am told he would also have the ladies' vote - my wife would most love to see a smolder-off against Tsitsipas, I hear.)

His fitness is a weapon for sure. I’ve seen him play incredibly long rallies and not be winded at all, while the other player could barely stand. He’s a bit of a human backboard, and that can rattle the opposition.

If Norrie manages an upset I shall worship him. Kyrgios slightly more likely IMO if his arseclownery doesn't take over him, which I reckon unlikely.

Intriguing match between Jabeur and Rybakina - great contrast of styles, of the sort you just don't see much any more.
But off the court, looks like quite a problem brewing, as it dawns on the Wimbledon grandees and the Royal Box that the women's tournament might get won by the wrong sort of Kazakh. The six feet blonde Caucasian born and resident in Moscow sort. Tricky.

Rybakina adopted well, and once she got the feel it was all on her racquet. She played great and deserves the win. If her being a Russian Kazak is a problem, it's one that Wimbledon created for themselves.

She joined the Kazakstan federation in 2018. It was a tennis / financial decision, not political.

Unfortunately I missed the ladies' finals, but I saw Rybakina in the semi-finals against Halep, and she looked great; her stature and game seem really well-suited for the surface. Her serve and power are great weapons, and she seems to have a winning demeanor. It was a good opportunity with many top women out of the tournament or exiting early.
