Just wondering if we have any tennis fans on here. It's an entertaining tournament this year! Hoping to see Nadal win it, but I imagine its going to be one of the new youngsters coming through (or Djokovic)...

I suspect Djokovic, but I hope nadal gives him a good run.

The ladies draw is wide open with the loss of swiatec. Jabeur must have a fairly good chance now.

Have you been watching this evening? The match with Tsitsipas has been hilarious for all the wrong reasons.

Anyone but Djokovic? I’m excited by Alcaraz and reckon he could go far.

I haven’t seen how Djokovic has been playing - not really interested. Nadal has the mental grit, let’s just hope physically he’s up to it.

Yep, Kyrgios true to form.

True to form - bad tempered and mouthy, but extremely talented and good to watch when he’s playing well. Just sad he’s wasted his talent with his attitude. He otherwise could have won a few Slams by now…

His antics are a coping mechanism for him. I’m not convinced he could play at the level he does without them to an extent.

Given the antics of his opponent today in the past (and some today as well), Nick doesn’t get away with much in comparison to others. I was cheering for him today.

Yeah, I was actually quite pleased for him at the end. In those last two sets, after he had calmed down, he was playing some brilliant, effortless tennis

Enjoyed the match between Kyrgios and Tsitsipas... intense, emotional, competitive and a bit bizarre. Funny hearing McEnroe complaining of Kyrgios's antics considering McEnroe was once the bad boy of tennis. Watching Krygios is like watching speed tennis. I see him reaching the semis.

I don't know if I'm the only one, but, not a fan of Djokovic. I'll be rooting for the field and Nadal for the title. Women's side is wide open and have no clue who will prevail.

Kyrgios could well reach the semis. We all saw how much more focused he became as the match went on, and with that came his devastating effectiveness. I’m also surprised that he doesn’t have a coach of any kind… he is truly a gifted player, and manages to do things sometimes that seem to almost defy the laws of physics/tennis (how does he get so much power behind his backhands when it looks like he just bats them?!)

Hilarious match today.

Nick 'Big Cojones' Kyrgios in da house 😁 4-1 h2h vs Tsitsipas now.

Anyone but Djokovic, I hope.

We've waited a very, very long time for The next guy. After Madrid, I only wanted to see him on grass to be sure. If he makes it to the quarters against Djoko, then we'll see where he's at. It will be one blazing hot ticket!
(No disrespect intended to Tim van R - amazing WC effort! - or Jannik Sinner; especially since I've probably just jinxed their opponents...)

I was gobsmacked by Rafa publicly summoning and admonishing young Sonego at the net today. That's the umpire's job. At least Rafa was classy enough to apologise in the locker room and in public when he cooled down. But Kyrgios would have been in huge trouble for anything like that. There is something to be said for the "halo and horns" phenomenon.

But Sonego isn't "young" anymore, at 27 he is a fully mature player who should know what constitutes hindrance. Umpire should have reminded him if not. Bitching for half set about closing the roof well before time was rather desperate too, umpire should have not yielded to that pressure.

Alcaraz could well be it. He took a bit of time in his first match to get going, but that was because he hadn’t played any warm up grass tournament before Wimbledon - so taking a set to do that is pretty impressive!

I’ve just had a look at what Rafa did. It doesn’t look great I have to say, but in the heat of the moment these guys are on another plane of competition, so I can kind of get that tensions would rise a bit.

He had to do it because the umpire didn’t. He had already talked to the umpire about it, and the umpire did nothing.

When you say ‘he’ here are you referring to Sonego?

I now need to do the decent thing and acknowledge
1. No-one should put money on my tips
2. I was foolishly ignorant of just what Sinner could do on grass.
I still think "Carlito" is the man, but he was beaten on the day by a super player who sure has the attributes for grass, and who was having a match right in the zone. Sinner was terrific!
Alcaraz showed a lot of mental resilience as well as some great groundstrokes. But his taste for Hail Mary drop-shots did remind me of a young Andy Murray though (but that worked out alright In the end) 😜

Sinner played really well today. I’ve watched him a lot, and I expected a much tighter match. Very much hoping he continues that form in his next match!
