seems odd to me that Omega scheduled a full afternoon/evening with guests just to reveal an update to one Speedmaster?

It's definitely a 3861-derivative, given that the chronograph bridge has the curved 'Master Co-Axial' script on it. Might have Spirate based on the pictures, but it's hard to tell.

Who wants to guess the price? I'm thinking the a new Apollo 8 release will be at least 12k plus.

Maybe more.. The current Apollo 8 is US$10,700, we aren't going to get a 3861 based upgrade for the same amount of money. Based on the increase from the standard 1861 to 3861 version it would work out to about $14k.

Probably a black ceramic Speedmaster at 10K ... and BTW there's no " Darkside of the Moon " as each spot on the Moon sits 14 days in full Sun light & 14 days in darkness
😗

Apparently “Dark” refers to unknown - not without sunlight. Who knew? ‍♂️

Just wait until he finds out there's no grey, white, or blue side of the moon

Well the backside ( or Far side ) of the Moon remained unknown until October 1959 when it was photographed by the camera mounted to the unmanned Soviet-Russian Luna 3 robotic spacecraft. That's a 65th anniversary.
I should know as a collector of lunar globes, remember it wasn't until 1961 that the Russians produced a lunar globe with important lunar features on the far side of the Moon. ( always invisible from the Earth ). In 1967 the far side was included in a Russian Lunar Atlas !

Not such a bad reply as in 1968 at the time of Apollo 8 the real color of the Moon was a point of discussion:
Apollo 8 crew described the Moon as being Black-Gray-White
Apollo 10 crew described the Moon as being Black-Brown-Tan-White... as they descended to 11 kilometers above the lunar surface...
😁 just giving Omega some further ideas 😁

I was reading today about the japanese lunar rover and apparently the moon has poles with ice inside. So I suppose that would be white and moon related

I hope the white dial Speedmaster will have the 321 movement as a replacement for the current Ed White. And a silver or opaline of marble dial of some sort.

I'd say near zero chance of that happening, but who knows, Omega has been doing weird shit.
