Will Omega Release a Snoopy Speedmaster 55th Anniversary?

So far we do not have any solid info of what Omega is planning on Oct the 5th, I can think of 3 possible scenarios without any clue of which one is the right one. Also, with the new expected price increase, I do not know which route Omega would go to:

Release a new Snoopy model to commemorate the 55th anniversary
  • Keep the production of the current Snoopy 50th anniversary
  • Discontinue the current Snoopy with out releasing releasing a new model

There is not much info floating around, and so far, Omega did not have any big releases for this year.

The 55th A11 anniversary wasn't important, 50th Apollo-Sojuz wasn't important so I'm going with continuation of Snoopy 50th.

Who said there will be a new release on October 5th?
Myself and a couple other members were told by our OB a few months ago that there probably will be a 55th. I an first on the list there if so.

I seriously doubt there will be a 55th, that stuff just isn't part of Omega's marketing strategy now. They loaned their name to Swatch for the gimmick angle.

For the S50, you could start placing official deposits around mid Sept. There was already lots of notice here coming from OB's saying to go in and place deposits. As of right now, there hasn't been any talk of being able to place official deposits for a S55. It's not looking likely that there will be a S55 coming out.

Edit- I went back to look at my old cc statements. I placed a 50% deposit on Sept 18, 2020. We should know by end of next week if we can place an official deposit.

I never placed a deposit on mine.

As I wrote in another thread, if it happens it will probably be like the 45th, 1970 pieces and/or made of unobtanium.

They'll (probably) never do a specified number, limited edition watch again. Omega knows it is better to keep their cards close to the chest so they can make as many 321 Ed White's or Snoopy's on a 'limited production' basis that maximizes their profit and keeps the market buzzing. It's worked beautifully for those two watches.....years in production and still hard to score one at an OB, and no one outside of Omega management knows how many have been made, will be made, or when production will end. Total control by Omega.

As long as there's still demand for the current one they should probably just keep making it, its a really nice watch and it wouldn't hurt keeping it around longer term rather than making a bunch of new ones to create more scarcity. I actually like this approach better than the old LE system, but that's just my preference.

Not sure it's a new rumour, more of an obvious question given the history of the previous releases. We're already into the 56th year, so I don't see them doing anything more any time soon. Maybe 60th? It feels unlikely to me... but you never know.

I think the problem with Omega is they do not know when to quit. The Snoopy should have been discontinued in Oct last year, being a 50th anniversary watch, it should be a limited run. The same should happen with some of the James Bond Seamasters.

As for releasing a new Snoopy I'm notmreally sure what it will commemorate but If I were in Omega shoes I would wait for the 60th anniversary and discontinue the current model immediately, you do not want to create Snoopy fatigue and building hype is a positive thing for a watch brand, or any brand.

I agree that Omega should discontinue the Silver Snoopy if they plan to do a 60th to start building hype. If there are no plans to do a 60th, then keep making the Silver Snoopy. Milk the cash cow as much as possible.

My question is, are they still producing them, or have they all been made and they are just dribbling them out sporadically? Like the R brand.
I've had mine for over a year, and got it from the OB a week after I expressed serious interest.

Snoopy is ment to be a special release if they keep milking it as you say this will hurt the brand's future outlook & image. There is a reason why some watches are hard to get or why some brands deliberately discontinue some of their popular models, Omega is not at their peak right now and they need to create some exclusivity and look after their avid collectors.

Up to my knowledge they are still in production, the boutiques might have some inventory kept for their vip clients.

It's not like you can just walk in and buy one. OB's are still playing the game with the Snoopy to a certain extent so they can play the exclusivity card when they need to.
