Why is This Omega Book So Expensive?

Anyone heard of Omega A Journey Through Time, and why is it so expensive?
It has been recommended as a good reference source of everything Omega, but no explanation.

Was it a special release from Omega or just no longer in print?
Is it worth getting, for a lesser price as I wouldn't pay almost 750.00. I saw the previous post about the book, but only one post was about what is inside the book, so, I do know some have heard of the book, but is it worth tracking down.

For $749.99, I hope a watch is inside the pages.

It is a great book and source of information (although with errors/faults)

It is out of print hence the high asking price if a copy shows up for sale

It's like any other commodity in that, I guess it's worth what people are prepared to pay for it. It is a great educational book. An invaluable, if slightly imperfect, reference that potentially could save you lots of $ in preventing future mistakes
That said I wouldn't pay $750. I got mine for around £100 about 2 yrs ago. You may find some kindly forum member with a spare could PM you with a more reasonable offer.
If not then my advice would tobe patient and keep searching.

It is out of print, but also still available from Omega Boutiques (English, German, French), they may just have to order it. 👍

Contact your local Omega Boutique - it’s out of print, but still available (at least in the U.K. and in most of Europe) - retail price was around £175 from memory.

Small run, super niche, hugely thick books, are expensive... 😁

I've seen one sold here by OF member for ~400 (EUR/USD, can't remember). I didn't buy it and now I regret. 😜

Call your local boutique... the retail is less than this.

I bought my copy directly from omega in the uk. I emailed them and paid over the phone. This was in 2015. It cost around 250 pounds including shipping.

There are few reference books that when you have in hand you will very quickly realize the staggering amount of work that went into it. This is one of those hence the price which to my mind is a bargain.

Why is it so expensive? Because there’s always some egit willing to pay over the odds for these things.......one egit reporting for duty!

Actually a fascinating reference book and the only watch book that my Generation Z daughter has looked at for more than the typical 20 minutes attention span.

Dad? What do you call that ring thing on your Speedmaster?
Dad? Why is it somehow different from the normal ones?
Dad? Why has your Globemaster got that funny telescope stars thing on the back?
Dad? Why are your Seamaster the wrong way round?
Dad? How do I find out if my vintage Omega has the right bracelet or not?
Etc, etc...

This is a really nice book. But you should get it cheap.

The high prices probably come from sales in travel agencies:
A journey through time ...

Thank you for taking the time to post pictures of the inside of the book and your comments. I'm going to call the boutique today or tomorrow and see if I can buy for retail, otherwise, I will keep my eyes open. No way, I'm paying 750.00... I love books and reading, but can't justify the price.. maybe it will come out in paperback....LOL

As long as it's available. 😉

Oh well, this one will do for now.

A thread exactly like this is started multiple times a year - the same assumptions are made because sellers ask huge prices, no one ever seems to call Omega and just ask to buy the damned book.

Mine has and I bet most would say the same.
I paid $400 US and use the damn thing every week! Plus it looks impressive.

There is a reason it sits on a Bible stand.
It's not perfect but it is the best resource for general Omega information that is out there.

It's worth it's weight in gold.....until a new edition comes out.::stirthepot::

I picked up one at the NYC boutique a few years back. I think it was 300 USD at the time.
