Why is it so difficult to get a replacement bezel priced?

I got back to my local AD armed with this new intel and spoke to a different girl. They'll do it for the same price. Result. You know, I've put so much time into getting to the bottom of this that I might just get it done and keep the watch... 😁

UPDATE: Went ahead and ordered the new bezel from the AD and got it fitted today. £212 all in. Not cheap, but with the bracelet valeting it got at service this is now mint. Like new. I might not sell it after all... 😀

Looks good, I'd keep it if extra cash wasn't an issue. Seems like you've already done all the work required for it to be enjoyed for a long time.

STS recently serviced my SMP, and recomended replacing the bezel at a cost of £300, as it was said to be faded.
I am happy with the faded look (patina) so I declined the replacement.

Wow, bezel costs 200, gets quote to replace it for 300 and it's a 5 minute job. So, that's like 1200 an hour for labor. Not a bad gig.😒

Looks the same bezel as my non chrono bond seamaster 300m. My bezel cost £104 as part of a service in 2015 from an Omega approved service center (watchfinder) in Kent. Then sold the old one on ebay for £87!
I'd be surprised if prices have gone up that much.

The people who get stuck on the weekend shifts often don't know as much as the people who work day shift during the week. This applies to all sorts of situations, not just price quotes for watch parts.

Chernobyl blew on a Saturday, and it's widely suspected that the experiments they were doing would have been better done by the weekday shift.

Prepare to be surprised. No it's not the same, it's deeper and the non chrono bezel has been unavailable outside of the dealer network, and £190 within the network for at least a year. This is why they now are asking £300 for a new one on eBay. Yes prices have moved rather a bit since Swatch restricted parts supply.

Learnt something there. So they are not the same. And yes I have noticed that prices for parts have headed north in the 2 years since I had it serviced.
But still considering the old one on ebay thoigh!
