Why I like Citizen (at the risk of appearing a rube)

I like the idea.

Never really been a Dodgers fan but there is a bit of Montreal connection with the Montreal Royals being the AAA affiliate for Brooklyn before they moved to LA.
Jackie Robinson played in Montreal - one of my all-time favorite Dodgers.
On another Montreal Expos topic, the Nationals should have kept #8 retired!

Nothing wrong with Citizen - I love my Eco-Drive Nighthawk Blue Angels. 200m WR if you want to get it wet is an added bonus 👍

They can take a beating too.

Picked this up for £5 just to see what I could do with it.

Turned out OK. Runs like a charm.

Some classic OF thread drift, I love it. My parents were born and raised in Montreal so my dad went to a lot of Royals games. He gave me these when I was a kid - unfortunately they span from '47 to 49, so missed the '46 Robinson year. Still lots of familiar names over those years though. Campanella and Al Campanis jump out from '47

Great pic. How long did you fly Huey Cobras for?
I flew in the RI National Guard from 95 to 98 then moved to Los Angeles and transferred to the CA Guard and flew there until 2001. I transferred into the Reserves in 2001 and worked in Army Aviation Research & Development for the rest of my career until I retired (Reserves retirement) in 2013. After 2001 I only “flew” simulators.
I got some stick time in S models in RI, but most of my Cobra hours were in F models.

I grew up in Pawtucket RI so I went to many Pawtucket Red Sox games. Got to see lots of future Boston players, but the biggest super-stars in the International League back then were Dale Murphy (Richmond Braves) and Cal Ripken Jr (Rochester Red Wings).
Back then they would have the old-timers show up and sign autographs for free just to get more fans through the turnstiles - this was before autographs became big money. I met and got autographs from Bob Feller, Warren Spahn, and Frank Robinson just to name a few of the bigger stars. But the best was Ted Williams - the greatest hitter ever

I too find myself drawn into the vintage Citizen world having bought a stainless 70's dress watch 21 jewel for less than 20 cents, gave it to my WM to service and lens change, looks like new now.
My WM at the time told me these were a very precisely made movement more so than the ETA Swiss stuff, on getting it back I put it to my ear to listen to its beating mechanical heart and was surprised to hear absolutely nothing, so damn quiet, completely stumped me.
I now have another similar one based on the first and like the former the latter make almost zero noise when ticking, no other of my many of watches do that.
I made the mistake of missing out on a 32 jewel ( I think that was the number) and have been kicking my self since as that particular one had extremely collectable (and growing) value. The oscillating weight arrangement was quite different than standard.

Here is an interesting link to the current crop of Citizen Fugu divers that I have been lusting after, preferably in Titanium.

Did you mean the 33 jewel movement, perhaps? Picked this one up awhile back. Very accurate…rock solid…comfortable…and quiet.

Ssshhhh!!!

wait until I get one 😉

Dipping my toe in. My first Citizen just arrived from Japan, a 62-6198 Challenge Diver from 1976. Needs a new crystal. Quite a thick watch. If nothing else, it will be a perfectly good beater.
